HENRIETTA, N.Y. -- At the Tim Hortons coffee bean production plant in Henrietta, they produce 20 to 30 million pounds of coffee a year.
This plant is open 24 hours, five days a week and delivers coffee to every Tim Hortons location in the United States, as well as some Canadian stores and international locations.
Quality control is the name of the game: They supervise the roasting process to make sure the beans color profile is consistent. Roasters are adjusted depending on the color level.
At the Quality Assurance Lab, cuppers skim and sample the beans and roasted coffee to check for aromatics, density, moisture, acidity and flavor.
Restaurant Brands International, owner of Burger King, bought Tim Hortons in 2014, the next year nearly two dozen Tim Hortons locations closed in Western New York, including a few in Rochester.
Following a company reorganization, Tim Hortons is opening a new store in Brighton next month with potential plans to reopen some previously closed locations.
