IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — The Irondequoit Town Hall campus is going to be filled with all kinds of fun and free activities for Saturday’s Winterfest.

No snow, no problem. Irondequoit found enough powder to make a kiddie sledding hill and a snowboard demo to give the town hall campus a wintery feel. The Winterfest has it all.

“We will have two horse drawn wagon rides going at all times," said Jarie Doberstein, Irondequoit's special events coordinator.

There will be some curling on synthetic ice, a bounce house, DJ, food trucks, crafts and fun cut outs to grab some photos. There’s a fire pit and plenty of marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate for s’mores.

“Families love coming to this because it is free. We have the tagline ‘come cure your winter blues with the town of Irondequoit where it’s cool to be cold,'" said Doberstein.

Irondequoit Town Supervisor Rory Fitzpatrick knows all about embracing the cold. He is planning on having ice in town every winter by way of a permanent ice rink at Camp Eastman beginning next winter.

“There’s always plenty of stuff going on in the summertime in the town so it’s nice that we have something going on here in the wintertime," said Fitzpatrick. "It will get people out; it’s always nice to see the residents here in town and be able to supply them with some entertainment and some fun stuff to do here at the town hall campus."

Irondequoit’s Winterfest is Saturday, Jan. 21 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and is open to all ages.
