PERINTON, N.Y. — One of the largest grape stomping festivals in the northeast is happening at Casa Larga Vineyards in Perinton.
The grape harvest is just about ready to start at Casa Larga, a 40-acre family owned winery high on the hill overlooking Perinton.
“We’ve done a lot of renovations this year. We have invested a lot in the winemaking side of the business,” said Andrea Colaruotolo O’Neill, president of Casa Larga.
Sunday‘s Purple Foot Festival is a chance to get in and squish grapes the old-fashioned way.
“Everything is looking great and this year for Purple Foot Festival we have something extra special going on. Our new winemaker, Paige, who is fabulous, is going to lead a demonstration using the process and bringing in the grapes early for what we use for sparkling wine. So those are going to get picked very soon. The vineyards are so full,” said O’Neill.
There will be purple feet everywhere and, of course, plenty of wine to drink, grape pie eating contests, food and a kids zone.
The Purple Foot Festival is Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s $15 in advance and $20 the day of the festival. There is no admission fee for anyone 21 and younger.
