OLEAN, N.Y. — All schools in the Olean district will shift to remote learning on Friday due to what officials are calling an unspecified social media threat made Thursday night.
The district says the alleged threat is under investigation by authorities.
A message on the district's website says the threat appears to be tied to another school, which it did not specify. Despite that, the decision was made to shift to remote learning out of an abundance of caution.
The Olean district says there will be no bus transportation and students are not to report to school buildings.
The Batavia City School District closed its schools on Friday due to an alleged social media threat. Two schools in the Lockport Central School District were remote on Thursday because of the same issue. Lockport students are returning to buildings on Friday with increased security.
