WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A North Carolina author wants to educate young readers on lesser known moments in Black history.

"The Tales of Camelia B." stars an adventurous 10-year-old African American girl and her diverse group of friends who travel back in time exploring history.

The author, Sakari Milan, said the goal is to help children understand and even appreciate their differences.

“The Tales of Camelia B." will highlight all the deleted, altered, and hidden stories within history and bring them to light," Milan said. "So, that children can be completely enlightened and empowered by the great contributions Black people have made all around the world.”

Milan's goal is to get the book series in the classroom for students K-5. It's available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble now.
