Your weekend is here, Texas, and it's time to take a look back at some of the stories that were in our headlines this week.

Your Weekend Weather

Look for partly cloudy skies and the chance of a passing shower through Mother’s Day. North Texas will see lows Sunday morning in the low 50s with middle and upper 50s for central and south-central Texas. Low and middle 60s will be found in south Texas. Afternoon highs will range from the upper 70s to the upper 80s across the state. Starting Monday, a ridge of high pressure builds over the central and southern plains regions. That means dry weather and very hot temperatures.

A bill originally aimed at banning hemp products containing THC has drastically changed after passing through a Texas House committee, but the new version may be too close to the original for some to get on board and not close enough for others.

The new version of Senate Bill 3 was brought up and quickly advanced by the House Committee on State Affairs last week. Two advocacy groups filed a federal lawsuit Thursday asking the courts to halt new Trump Administration vetting procedures for reuniting children who crossed into the U.S. without their parents, saying the changes are keeping families separated longer and are inhumane.

The lawsuit was filed by the National Center for Youth Law and Democracy Forward in federal court in the District of Columbia. It names the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and its Office of Refugee Resettlement and seeks a return to prior reunification procedures.

Lawmakers are figuring out how to spend $4 billion effectively to improve access to water.
