At long last, it’s the weekend! Below, you’ll find a quick guide — based on information from the MTA — to the biggest planned service changes on the city’s subways and rails.

Subway service changes

4 trains in the Bronx

Between 3:30 a.m. Saturday and 10 p.m. Sunday, 4 trains will not run between Woodlawn and 161st Street-Yankee Stadium in either direction due to track replacement.

Riders can take a train at nearby D train stations along Grand Concourse for service between 161st Street-Yankee Stadium and Bedford Park Boulevard.

Riders can also take free shuttle buses for service between Bedford Park Boulevard-Lehman College and Woodlawn. The buses will stop at Bedford Park Boulevard-Lehman College and Mosholu Parkway.

D trains in Brooklyn and Manhattan

Between 11:30 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, D trains will not run between 34th Street-Herald Square and Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center in either direction because of structural maintenance.

D trains will be running along two routes, according to the MTA:

  • Between Norwood-205th Street and 34th Street-Herald Square
  • Between Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and 36th Street, with express service between Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and 36th Street in both directions

E trains in Manhattan

Because of structural maintenance, between 9:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, downtown E trains will run on the F line from West 4th Street-Washington Square to 2nd Avenue, and uptown E trains will run on the F line from 2nd Avenue to 47-50 Streets-Rockefeller Center, resuming service at 5th Avenue/53rd Street. 

F trains in Brooklyn

​Between 3:30 a.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Monday, F trains will not run between Kings Highway and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue in either direction due to track replacement.

F trains will run between Jamaica-179th Street and Kings Highway.

J trains in Brooklyn and Queens

Between 11:30 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, J trains will not run between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Broadway Junction in either direction due to track replacement.

Free shuttle buses will run between the Jamaica Van-Wyck E train station and Broadway Junction, making all J stops between 121st Street and Broadway Junction.

Riders can take the E train for service to Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Sutphin Boulevard-Archer Avenue-JFK Airport. Riders can take the A train to Howard Beach-JFK Airport​ for service to JFK Airport. 

J trains will run between Broad Street and Broadway Junction.

Q trains in Brooklyn

Between 3:30 a.m. Saturday and 10 p.m. Sunday, Q trains will not run between Kings Highway and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue in either direction due to track replacement.

Q trains will run between 96th Street and Kings Highway every 10 minutes during the day and evening.

1, 2 and 3 trains in Manhattan

Between 10 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, 2 and 3 trains will run local between 96th Street and 72nd Street in both directions because of track replacement.

1 trains will run every eight minutes during the day and evening, and 2 and 3​​ trains will run every 12 minutes, while ​​​1, 2 and 3 trains will share the local track.

3 trains will not run between between Times Square-42nd Street and 34th Street-Penn Station due to track maintenance. Riders can take 1 and 2 trains for service to and from 34th Street-Penn Station.

2 and 5 trains in the Bronx

Between 3:45 a.m. Saturday and 10 p.m. Sunday, Manhattan-bound 2 and 5 trains will not stop from East 180th Street to 3rd Avenue-149th Street due to structural maintenance. Riders can take a Wakefield-bound 2 train or Eastchester-bound 5 train for service to and from bypassed stations.

Between 7:45 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, Manhattan-bound 2 trains will not stop from Gun Hill Road to East 180th Street due to station maintenance. Riders can take a Wakefield-bound 2 train for service to and from bypassed stations.

5 trains will not run between East 180th Street and Bowling Green until 10 a.m on Sunday due to track maintenance. 

4, 5 and 6 trains in Manhattan

Between 12:01 a.m. and noon on Saturday, uptown 4, 5 and 6 trains will not stop at at 125th Street due to station work. Riders can take a downtown train for service to and from this station.

And between 12:01 a.m. and noon on Sunday, downtown 4, 5 and 6 trains will not stop at 125th Street due to station work. Riders can take an uptown train for service to and from this station. 

6 trains in the Bronx

Between 9:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, Pelham Bay Park-bound 6 trains will not stop at Parkchester due to station work.

Riders can take a Manhattan-bound train for service to and from this station. 

A and C trains in Brooklyn and Manhattan

Between 9:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, downtown A and C local trains will run express from 168th Street to 125th Street due to track replacement. Riders can take an uptown local train for service to and from bypassed stations. 

Meanwhile, uptown A and C local trains will run express from Canal Street to 59th Street-Columbus Circle due to signal modernization. Riders can take a downtown local train for service to and from bypassed stations. 

And Euclid Avenue-bound C and Queens-bound A local trains will not stop at Ralph Avenue and Rockaway Avenue due to structural maintenance. Riders can take a Manhattan-bound local train for service to and from these stations. 

E and F trains in Queens

Between 11:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, Jamaica-bound F trains will not stop at 169th Street and Sutphin Boulevard, and Jamaica Center-bound E and Jamaica-bound F trains will not stop at Briarwood due to electrical work.

Riders can take a Manhattan-bound train for service to and from bypassed stations. 

N, Q and R trains in Manhattan

Between 11:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, uptown N, Q and R local trains will run express from Canal Street to 34th Street-Herald Square due to track replacement. 

Riders can take a downtown train for service to and from bypassed stations.
