New York state Sen. James Skoufis is calling on President Joe Biden to recall retired Army Colonel Douglas Macgregor from his position on the West Point Board of Visitors.

Macgregor was appointed to that board by former President Donald Trump.

This comes after reports of controversial remarks by Macgregor that Skoufis is labeling, as racist and ignorant.

According to CNN, Macgregor recently said that the Biden administration is bringing in non-white immigrants as a plan to have them outnumber white Americans of European ancestry in the country.

Skoufis, whose district covers West Point, released a scathing series a tweets Friday in which he said, in part, "these comments are a bigoted bullhorn, plain and simple, and they play on the misguided fears of a subset of the public, stoking hatred, ignorance, and violence. Macgregor has outed himself once again as a racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic, and otherwise deeply depraved individual not worthy of his presidential appointment to West Point’s Board of Visitors. There is no place for these false, hateful, and caustic beliefs in our public discourse, and doubly so for those appointed to represent and guide our highest military institutions."

The U.S. Military Academy Public Affairs Office issued a statement, saying "members of the U.S. Military Academy’s Board of Visitors are appointed by the President and members of Congress in order to provide independent advice and recommendations to the academy’s leaders. West Point’s responsibility is to update the Board of Visitors not administer or appoint its members.”
