ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The next phase of the $80 million Regional Revitalization Partnership strategy happening in Rochester will focus on commercial properties located along a stretch of West Main Street in Rochester.

What You Need To Know

  • West Main Gateway focuses on W. Main Street from Genesee Street to Broad Street

  • The project is intended to improve businesses, properties and public spaces

  • This initiative is part of the $300 million Regional Revitalization Partnership (RRP), which also supports communities in Buffalo and Niagara Falls

Grants of up to $250,000 will be available for business owners to apply for in this next phase of community-driven revitalization that will target the West Main Street Corridor from West Genesee Street to West Broad Street. This historically significant neighborhood is home to the Susan B. Anthony House and Museum.

OneROC and the Regional Revitalization Partnership want to see this area experience a boost.

“You are going to see a difference when we invest $6 million here in these beautiful buildings and even some vacant lots. We look forward to seeing what comes up. This corridor has a ton of potential for the small businesses and the historic properties along this stretch," said Shannon Ealy, director of programs and partnerships at OneROC. “Rochester’s share of that $300 million is $80 million and it is going to be invested in three areas - workforce development, commercial corridors and the riverfront. We are going to look at any project that comes in this area and if it is something that is going to be transformational and is going to create economic opportunity, we are certainly going to look at it."

The commercial capital improvement grant application process will begin sometime in July. To find out more, visit westmaingateway.com.
