A free bus service is available in Newburgh and Middletown Area Transit services for the rest of the year.

Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus announced the initiative on Friday. He says the hope is to increase accessibility and affordability of public transportation.

The change covers fixed-route and American Disabilities Act (ADA) paratransit services in Newburgh and Middletown.

Leaders say more than 200,000 riders stand to benefit from this initiative.
