KINGSTON, N.Y. — One in 10 of Hudson Valley residents are food insecure, according to the FeedHV Community Food Network. As a result, Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado is partnering with the Regional Food Bank to help combat food insecurity across the state.

On Thursday, Delgado introduced Chobani Super Milk, a shelf-stable milk, that will not only aid in disaster relief, but be distributed to food banks, like People's Place in Kingston, officials said.

"One in five children are living in poverty in our state," Delgado said. "We can address those in a real way. It’s going to take all hands on deck and it does take a commitment to share."

The initiative with the Regional Food Bank and Chobani has a goal to provide more access to health food for people dealing with food insecurity.

While Chobani Super Milk is stocked on the shelves of People's Place, Max Finberg, vice president of government affairs for Chobani, said the ingredients will be a nutritious source of protein for New Yorkers.

"It really is super," Finberg said. "There's 50 percent more protein than regular milk, it has natural enzymes that eat away a quarter of the sugar and creates some prebiotic fiber. And, without refridgeration, can last up for up to nine months."
