Army West Point football moves to 6-0 and is now officially bowl eligible after the Black Knights defeated the University of Alabama-Birmingham 44-10 at Michie Stadium on Saturday.

On UAB’s first offensive drive, the Blazers faced a fourth-and-1 from their own 34 yard-line. Second-year head coach Trent Dilfer opted to go for it, and it quickly backfired.

Junior linebacker Kalib Fortner made the stop and got the ball back to Army. Following an offsides penalty on UAB, senior quarterback Bryson Daily ran it into the endzone for a 29-yard touchdown.

It was the first of four rushing touchdowns for Daily, who ran for 136 yards on 12 carries en route to a 44-10 Black Knights win over the Blazers in front of 29,002 fans at Michie Stadium.

“It's just a testament [of] how good our offensive line and how everybody's playing right now,” said Daily, who also had a passing touchdown. “Just allowing a player like me to have the success I've gotten to have, it tells you how good the guys are around me.”

The American Athletic Conference win moves Army to 5-0 in the conference and 6-0 overall. That means the Black Knights are officially bowl eligible. It's the earliest they have ever been in a season.

“It's a measure of success, but we're only halfway through the season and there's a lot of season left to play,” said Jeff Monken, Army’s head coach. “The second half of the season is going to be even more challenging than the first half.”

While Army ran for 413 yards on the afternoon, the Black Knights defense limited UAB to just 61 yards on the ground. Army junior safety Casey Larkin stepped up with two interceptions in the first half, which helped stifle the Blazers’ offense.

“Doing my 1/11. I think that’s the most important thing,” Larkin said. “I think that's every guy's mindset is doing their job on the play. And the plays don't happen unless you have all 11 doing the same thing, doing their job.”

The defense also racked up three sacks as they applied pressure on UAB’s quarterback Jalen Kitna all game. The nation’s longest active win streak now extends to 10 games for Army.

Next up, the Black Knights welcome East Carolina to Michie Stadium next Saturday as conference play continues.
