Dietz Stadium in Kingston will reopen Oct. 10 prior to a Kingston High School football game following a more than one-year, $21.5 million construction upgrade, officials announced Thursday.

Located on North Front Street, the Robert Dietz Memorial Stadium is a treasured sports complex that serves the Kingston High School Tigers and area sports leagues. City officials worked for years to make improvements to the facility.

The extensive renovation includes a new turf field, advanced track surfacing, LED stadium lighting and a scoreboard with large-screen broadcasting capabilities.

The Kingston City School District and the city will hold a special ceremony to commemorate the return of student-athletes to the stadium at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, before the Tigers take on Valley Central at 7 p.m. The ceremomy marks the end of the 14-month project, which displaced the school's athletic teams for the 2023-24 school year.

"We are thrilled to welcome our community back to Dietz Stadium. This renovated facility will serve as a cornerstone for both our school athletics and community events for years to come," said Paul Padalino, superintendent of Kingston schools.

Members of the community are invited to the reopening ceremony.
