The YWCA Ulster County has some new tools heading into next year.
The organization received $2,500 and 20 Chromebooks from Spectrum on Wednesday.
The Chromebooks will be used to support their Be the Change youth leadership program, and the eracism program, a writing program to help young people develop ideas for eliminating racism.
Among those on hand was state Sen. Michelle Hinchey who said the YWCA has been instrumental in shaping the future of the community.
“To see [kids] learning and see how much care the YWCA takes and how excited all the kids are to be doing all the different activities that are offered here and the programs that are offered here, and to have Spectrum recognize how important these programs are and how important early childhood education and child care is,” Hinchey said. “We don’t have access to all the types of transportation, all the types of funding or attention that some other areas do."
Spectrum is the parent company of Spectrum News 1.
