Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan says his initiaves for next year's budget can keep the county on course for an energy milestone.
Ryan wants to dedicate close to $2.8 million to the county's Department of the Environment, and move further toward green energy.
He says the proposal could lead to over 50 percent of the county's electricity coming from local, renewable sources as soon as next year.
It's part of a promise Ryan ran on last year. He believes the County could reach 100 percent renewable energy use by 2030.
