Ayshawn Davis, 11, had big dreams.
Among them was helping the homeless and putting an end to gun violence in his community. These goals were cut short Sunday, when Ayshawn was killed in a drive-by shooting on Old Sixth Avenue.
The Troy community gathered at the scene in Lansingburgh Monday evening, renewing calls to end gun violence in the city. Those who knew Ayshawn say despite his young age, he understood violence around him. They say he recognized change was needed in the community.
"He was very adamant that gun violence in Troy needs to stop. He also stated that he has lost friends and people to gun violence in the city of Troy. He wanted it to stop because he said he was tired of losing his friends. It's just now, unfortunately, we lost him," said Tasheca Medina.
Troy Police have not released any information about possible suspects.
