SUNY Orange campuses in Middletown and Newburgh are now in their second week of the semester which is blending in-person and remote learning, and are now also recipients of new federal funding.

New York's senators and U.S. Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney announced that the school is receiving over $594,000 this year in a grant from the Department of Education's Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program.

That grant will be worth close to $3 million over the next five years. The money is for SUNY Orange's "PROSPERAR" program which looks to expand services and increase graduation rates and other achievements.

SUNY Orange President Dr. Kristine Young said that the grant will go a long way to support students of color.
