Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan says there has been the first positive coronavirus case involving a student at SUNY New Paltz.
Ryan says the student's roommate is being quarantined, and it shows the protocols are working.
"The reopening plan, and all the steps put in place at SUNY New Paltz, they are working. They are working because we quickly detected and found the positive case. The student did the right thing and proactively took the test and is cooperating," said Ryan.
Pat Ryan also announced at the presser thaat the county will allocate $170,000 towards supporting temporary food services for county senior citizens.
Right now, there are 119 active coronavirus cases in Ulster county.
There have been 15 new cases over the past 48 hours, with one person currently hospitalized in the ICU.
