Town of Poughkeepsie police are continuing to investigate after a townhouse at Vassar College was struck by armed burglars on Halloween night.
School officials say two male intruders entered one of the townhouses with a weapon hrough an unlocked door, tied up a pair of students, then went through the residence. After the intruders left, the school says the students ran outside and flagged down campus police.
One of the victims was injured, but declined medical attention.
Spectrum News spoke with Vassar students today about their concerns after the attack.
"It's just like locking the door for sure," said freshman Melisa Calderon.
"We were getting kind of lazy about that because it didn't seem like security was a big issue but now we're making sure to lock our doors and take our keys with us and stuff," said Tamar Wolfson, also a freshman at Vassar.
The school and town of Poughkeepsie police have been stepping up patrols. Spectrum News has reached out to police for an update on the investigation, but has not yet received a response.
