NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- Juan Guevera and Viridiana Perez were given the keys to their first home, just before the holidays. thanks to a collaboration with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh and M&T Bank.

The family worked with Habitat For Humanity, putting in 400 hours of work into other people's homes to make their homeownership a reality. They had to take home ownership education classes on topics like financing, budgeting, and home maintenance.

Behind the walls of the home is wood from the 2016 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. Thousands come to New York City every year to see the tree in all its glory, giving them joy, but in this case, it's the tree that keeps on giving.

The family says after closing, they'll probably move in to the house in January, They can't wait to move in, especially the children.

"They just say every day, 'when are we moving into the house?' Everybody wants their own room and they want to paint, that have that picture of their own rooms," said Perez.
