MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – Several New York State Police officers received a free skin cancer screening on Wednesday. This skin care initiative was a partnership with the State Troopers PBA Surgeons Group and Hudson Dermatology.
Board-certified Dermatologist Carlos Charles said pre-screenings are essential. He encourages everyone to take preventive measures.
According to the National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention, one American dies from Melanoma every hour of every day.
Arthur Worden, captain of the State Police, said he knows firsthand what it's like to get an unexpected diagnosis. “I previously had skin cancer," Worden said. "It’s essential that these types of screenings are done to prevent anything in the future.”
