The New York State Fair remains in doubt due to the coronavirus pandemic.

While no final decision has been reached, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, during a press call Friday morning, said "right now, we're not in a position to go ahead."

Cuomo had planned for the State Fair to be the longest in its history, advocating for it to be stretched to 18 days, up from its current 13-day run. The change even made it into his State of the State address in January.

"If there is any possible way to open it safely, I would," he said Friday. "But we're not there yet."

The State Fair attracted a record 1.33 million people in 2019.
