With seemingly no end in sight to winter, the Syracuse Mets provided area baseball fans with a little warmth Thursday by unveiling their 142-game 2021 schedule, with opening day set for April 6.

The first of 70 home games will be played on Tuesday, April 13 in the opener of a six-game series against the Buffalo Bisons. Syracuse will only play the other five teams in the newly-created Northeast Division: Buffalo, Rochester, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Lehigh Valley, and Worcester, which moved from Pawtucket. The Bisons will be the Mets' most common opponent, with 36 scheduled meetings, compared to 34 against the Red Wings.

The new schedule also includes six-game series with each team running from Tuesday to Sunday, with every Monday scheduled as an off-day. The Mets will play 70 games in Syracuse at NBT Bank Stadium, and 72 on the road. The 142 games are set to be played over a 167-day stretch from April 6 to September 19.

The Mets have also announced they are looking into the possibility of welcoming fans back to NBT Bank Stadium, working with state and county health department officials to iron out safety protocols. More details on tickets and fan seating will be released in the coming weeks.
