A 16-year-old has been arrested in connection to a shooting that happened during a football game in Utica on Friday.

A security guard was shot during a Proctor High School football game. The Oneida County DA's office and the police department say the teenage suspect turned himself in. The DA plans to prosecute the teen as an adult.

He has been charged with attempted second degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon and more.

The school district will be adding more security over the new several days following the shooting.

The injured guard was identified as Keff Lynch. Utica Police Chief Mark Williams said Lynch is recovering well and there is a chance he can be released soon.
