An unmanned aircraft crashed at Wheeler-Sack Army Airfield in Fort Drum Wednesday morning.

Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft assigned to the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade crashed into the Army airfield.

Emergency Services stationed at the airfield quickly responded, extinguishing the small aircraft that was in flames.

The Fort Drum Environmental Compliance team also responded, removing all petroleum-contaminated soil.

Nobody was harmed during the incident, but the aircraft is a total loss.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
