Two people convicted in connection to The Word of Life church killing in New Hartford are slated to be released this week.

Linda Morey and her son, David, pleaded guilty to assault and were sentenced to five years in prison.

They are just two of the church members convicted in connection with the death of Lucas Leonard, 19, in October 2015.

Linda provided an electrical cord that was used to beat Leonard.

Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara said they should both be released Saturday.

Leonard’s mother, Deborah Leonard, was released from prison last month after a five-year sentence. She admitted she was one of the people who whipped her sons with the electrical cord.

Leonard's husband was also involved in the beatings and is serving a 10-year prison sentence. Two other church members, Traci and Daniel Irwin, were released years ago for unlawful imprisonment.
