The first woman to serve as New York's lieutenant governor was laid to rest on Monday.

Funeral services for Mary Anne Krupsak were held at St. Francis de Sales Church in Geneva.

She lived in Seneca Lake and died at her home on Dec. 28.

She was 92 years old.

Krupsak represented the area in the state Assembly and Senate before running in the Democratic primary for lieutenant governor in 1974, when she beat Mario Cuomo to be Gov. Hugh Carey's running mate, and then became the first woman to be lieutenant governor.

She would serve in that role through the end of 1978.
