The Syracuse Common Council approved more than $2 million worth of COVID-19 pandemic relief spending.

Among the provisions in the package, Syracuse school students will get some help making the transition to college through $350,000 in funding for "OnPoint for college."

The money will also help arts and culture organizations bounce back with $1.25 million to create the Arts and Culture Recovery Fund.

And more than $400,000 is set aside to provide free professional financial counseling for Syracuse residents.

The Common Council also approved funding for a community violence intervention assessment to determine how the city can improve its efforts in this area.
