Former state Sen. Sue Serino was endorsed by the Dutchess County Republican Committee on Thursday for the party's nomination for county executive, her campaign announced.

Serino's endorsement from the county committee was unanimous.

“Sue Serino was a strong and tireless representative during her time in the State Senate, and I know that as Dutchess County Executive, she will continue to fight for the residents of our community," said Dutchess GOP Chairman Michael McCormack. "Sue shows up and actively listens to the concerns of residents from every corner of our County, and because of that, she is the person most prepared to become our next county executive.”

A former four-term state senator, Serino is running for the post vacated by Republican U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro, who was elected to Congress last year. Serino last year lost re-election after the redistricting process led her to run against Democratic state Sen. Michelle Hinchey in a redrawn Hudson Valley seat.

“After living in Dutchess County for the majority of my life and serving our community as your State Senator, I am honored to be running to be the next Dutchess County Executive,” Serino said.  “I know what a special place Dutchess County is, and we need a leader who will continue to put the residents first and come up with solutions that will ease the burden and make it easier to succeed here in Dutchess County. I look forward to building on the foundation set by Congressman Marc Molinaro and working with our neighbors to take actions that will further enhance our community.”
