New York education officials on Monday canceled the June Regents examinations as schools across the state remain closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It's not yet clear what the canceled examinations will mean for students who need the results for graduation or to obtain Regents diplomas. Additional guidance will be posted by the State Education Department on Tuesday afternoon, a spokeswoman for the department said.
The pandemic has closed schools statewide since last month, and schools are expected to remain closed until at least April 29, Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday announced, along with non-essential businesses.
