As of Saturday morning, the national average for a gallon of unleaded gas is $3.14, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA).
Here in New York, the statewide average is a little higher at $3.21.
Across upstate, drivers in Buffalo can expect to pay $3.30 a gallon; in Rochester, it's $3.34 a gallon; it's a little less at $3.22 in the Syracuse area; and in the Capital Region, it's only $3.17 a gallon.
According to AAA, in order to conserve fuel, motorists should map routes, avoid peak traffic times like rush hour and combine errands into one trip while using cruise control when possible. Drivers should also make sure tire pressure is at the vehicle’s recommended level for the best gas mileage.
