It was an eventful weekend for the Syracuse football team with the Orange holding their first scrimmage ahead of the fall. Head coach Fran Brown was really pleased with the way the offensive side came out and took command.

Guys like Kyle McCord and Oronde Gadsden led the charge and it seemed like from what Brown said on Monday, that the offense may have gotten the best of the defense a little bit, but things are always improving.

What You Need To Know

  • Practice continues for the Syracuse football team

  • SU is fresh off its first scrimmage ahead of the fall

  • Work remains, but things are moving in a positive direction

The team is a work in progress but overall, things are continuing to point in the right direction as the Orange get closer and closer to game shape.

"I thought the defense as a whole played solid," co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Robert Wright said. "It was a good start, but definitely not a finished product. A lot of things to build off of."

"We're getting there," Brown added. "We've got a long way to go. We get now. We got a lot to take care of and a lot of things to do. We just became a team, so, you know, it just takes us a while."

Practice continues as we are now less than three weeks from the first game of the season.
