In a dynamic initiative to empower veterans in the realm of entrepreneurship, the "Boots to Business" program is working to empower veterans in the realm of entrepreneurship by connecting vets with the knowledge and tools essential for thriving in the business world.

The narratives of resilience and determination have propelled veterans to navigate the challenges of military service while successfully running their businesses.

Founder of Worksite Fitness since February 2022, Marine Corps veteran Ben Brickman's entrepreneurial journey reflects the transformative power of the "Boots to Business" initiative.

"I've seen people go from insecurity to confidence, trying things they'd never think to try," Brickman said. "That's why I do it. It's amazing, and I love it."

Brickman's journey into fitness commenced during his days as a Division I Syracuse University wide receiver. Enrolling in the "Boots to Business" program facilitated by the Small Business Administration under the Department of Defense's Transition Assistance Program, Brickman received vital entrepreneurial education and training.

"They got me hooked up with a marketing team that got me off the ground when I first opened," Brickman said. "I can trace probably $40,000 to Boots to Business."

Amy Amoroso, director of the Veteran Business Outreach Center, plays a pivotal role in guiding classes in the Northeast and Puerto Rico. Offering a comprehensive view of business ownership, her sessions cover finance, legal aspects, business planning, succession planning, and strategic planning.

"I like the classes they offer," Brickman said. "They've been a huge help, and I'm very grateful. I don't think worksites like this would be around if it wasn't for that."

The "Boots to Business" program accommodates a diverse range of entrepreneurial endeavors, transcending traditional brick-and-mortar establishments.

Jason Nance, a petty officer 1st Class in the U.S. Navy and owner of Bold Ridge Outfitters, launched an online hiking apparel business. Juggling his military responsibilities, family, and business, Nance found solace and guidance in the program.

"For me, the Boots to Business classes helped navigate how to grow my customer base but, more importantly, gave me the freedom to make my own decisions," Nance said.
