A 23-year-old Syracuse man pleaded not guilty in Onondaga County Court Wednesday morning to charges related to a shooting in Syracuse’s Armory Square early Saturday morning that left one person dead and four others injured.

The Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office announced Brandon Rolfe’s arrest Tuesday evening.

During an interview with police, Rolfe admitted to the possession of a firearm, firing several gunshots and injuring multiple victims from the shooting, according to court documents.

Rolfe was charged with one count of murder, four counts of attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Officers responded near the 300 block of South Clinton Street after several gunshots were heard at 12:13 a.m. Saturday.

According to police, five people with gunshot wounds were found at the scene, including Akok Lual, 24, who was pronounced dead.

One victim remains in critical condition, and the other three have non-life threatening injuries, police said.
