Cornell University is elevating their COVID-19 protocols on campus to level yellow.
Officials say this is due to a drastic spike in positive cases on campus and is likely being caused by relaxed mask requirements, the emergence of the B-A-2 variant and increased social activities.
In moving to yellow, students and staff are now being urged to wear high-quality masks whenever socializing, to stay home from class, work or social gatherings if they feel unwell, and to wear a mask in public and get tested.
Supplemental and opt-in surveillance testing is also available, and they're urging all members of the campus community to get tested before leaving for spring break and before they come back.
Administrators say antigen test kits can be found at any on-campus COVID-19 testing site.
