Cornell University will require eligible students, faculty and staff to receive COVID-19 booster shots by Jan. 31, 2022, or within 30 days of becoming eligible, to be on the campus for the spring semester, according to a letter distributed by the administration Tuesday.
The announcement follows an outbreak of COVID-19 on the campus in December, including cases of the omicron variant, that brought the campus to an Alert Level Red last week.
Final exams were moved online and student activities, including winter graduation ceremonies, were canceled.
Proof of a booster will need to be uploaded to the university's "Daily Check" portal, per school officials, and non-compliance to the new order will be "subject to appropriate action."
