The City of Syracuse Department of Parks, Recreation and Youth Programs said Tuesday that playgrounds in city parks are now open to the public.

The city also said that outdoor spray features will be available to help during the heat.

The following parks currently have water sprinklers immediately available:

  • Burnet Park Mister
  • Comfort Tyler Park
  • Frazer School Spray Feature
  • McKinley Park Spray Area
  • Thornden Park Spray Circle
  • Union Park Spray Area

In the coming weeks, water systems expected to become available include the following park locations:

  • Lewis Park
  • Lower Onondaga
  • Schiller Park Mushroom
  • Skiddy Park
  • Washington Square Park
  • Wilson Park

Masks will be required except when near water outlets, as well as normal social distancing guidelines.

City pools remain closed for the time being, due to the financial impact of COVID-19 on city government.
