The Syracuse man just acquitted of murder in the death of a 12-year-old boy is now headed to prison for a separate crime.
Johanen Pizarro, 20, was sentenced to five years behind bars, and five years post-release supervision, after pleading guilty to a charge of criminal possession of a weapon.
It was unrelated to the John Street murder in which James Springer III was killed. Pizarro was tried for murder in that case, but a jury found him not guilty. New murder charges have since been filed against another man believed to have played a role in the 12-year old's death.
