Loved ones paid their final respects to the victim of a deadly crash involving Syracuse University basketball coach Jim Boeheim. The 51-year-old Jorge Jimenez was laid to rest Thursday in Syracuse.
The A. DeWitt Funeral Home held the service at no cost to the Jimenez family. St. Agnes Florist will also be donating their services.
Jimenez was killed last Wednesday night as a passenger in a car that crashed on the interstate near the Thompson Road exit. The driver was trying to get to the side of the highway.
Coach Boeheim in an oncoming vehicle noticed the disabled car and tried to avoid it. As a result, Boeheim struck Jimenez who was standing on the side of the road.
Another man was also injured at the scene. He's been treated and released from the hospital.
No charges were filed in the case. Officials say the investigation into the crash is nearly complete.
