Two people now face animal cruelty charges after a dog was found tied to a log in the Erie Canal.

The dog was found in the canal near Luquer Street in Rome last week.

She was taken in by the Central New York SPCA, where they named her River.

SPCA officials say two arrests have been made in the case. River's owner, 23-year-old Trevor Drake, and 23-year-old Kyle Webb both face misdemeanor counts of abandonment.

The SPCA says River is currently in good health.
