Putting the focus on blood donation. This week on In Focus, JoDee Kenney sits down with New York Assemblymember Al Stirpe, who has spent over a decade encouraging eligible New Yorkers to save lives by giving blood — and may well be the first member of the assembly to vote on a piece of legislation while donating blood. Stirpe discusses his annual blood drive Lifesavers, soon to be in its sixteenth year, and shares how his father inspired the annual tradition. He explains just why this issue is so close to home for him, and how he has seen blood donations make a difference in people's lives — including those of his own family.
