This weekend on In Focus, we’re opening a conversation on the results of the 2024 election and the issues driving voters across Upstate New York.
JoDee Kenney sits down with Frank Salamone, chair of the Schenectady County Democratic Committee, to talk about the political divide and the swing in voter sentiment this election cycle. Salamone highlighted Democrats’ success in flipping three congressional seats, but said there is still work to be done to hone the party’s message to voters. In Schenectady County, Salamone credited the legislature’s Democratic majority with cutting property taxes for homeowners. Despite this, he said, many voters still do not acknowledge the party’s fiscal responsibility when they head to the ballot box. As the local election cycle ramps up for 2025, Salamone said the party will explore new avenues to connect with voters.
