Preparing for the holidays is the topic of conversation this weekend on In Focus.

JoDee Kenney is joined in the studio by U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Pat Lurenz, coordinator for Capital Region Toys for Tots. This year is the largest campaign to-date for the chapter, and Lurenz said the organization has seen several large donations, including from Hasbro Toys and Dunkin' Donuts. While most new, unwrapped toys donated are for younger children, Lurenz said selecting gifts for kids aged 11 and up can be more challenging. Last year, Capital Region Toys for Tots provided gifts for more than 400,000 children, and Lurenz said families in need can find out how to sign up at www.toysfortots.org.

Lurenz urged everyone to drop off a new, unwrapped toy in drop boxes located at area businesses, or at the various toy drives conducted each season. Toys for Tots is also in need of volunteers, and Lurenz said anyone looking to donate their time as well can find more information on the chapter’s website.
