As Lake Placid celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the Winter Olympics, some members of the 1980 dream team have arrived in the Capital Region.

Tai Babilonia, a world champion and two-time Olympian, is among those in town to commemorate those historic games.

She was a medal favorite in 1980 but was forced to withdraw due to injury.

She still remains a legend in the sport. Babilonia won five consecutive national titles and, in 1979, a world championship with partner Randy Gardner.

Not being able to perform was a disappointment, but Babilonia has fond memories of Lake Placid, particularly the people.

"My fondest memories are of the people of the town of Lake Placid. They helped us so much the night we were to withdraw and, you know they let us have our privacy after it happened and then they just embraced us. They embraced us like we were part of their family," she said.

Anniversary celebrations continue in Lake Placid until Sunday, February 23.
