1. Business groups urge calm with New York mask enforcement

Business organizations urged New Yorkers on Friday to avoid angry confrontations with employers and their workers enforcing Gov. Kathy Hochul's new indoor mask rule in public spaces where proof of vaccination is not required. The new mandate is set to take effect on Monday in New York and run through Jan. 15. The rule is being put in place as COVID-19 case rates have increased in recent weeks, especially in upstate counties.

2. Social media challenges causing disruption in schools

With the rise in popularity of TikTok and other video sharing platforms has come a string of trends and challenges that are causing disruptions in schools across the country. One of them, coined 'Devious Licks,' encourages students to vandalize or damage school property, and has been cropping up in districts nationwide. On a local level, the problematic social media challenges are ramping up post-pandemic, according to one district's superintendent.

4. Exit 33 Nightclub at Turning Stone re-opening tonight

The Supreme Court ruled Friday that Texas abortion clinics can challenge the state's six week ban on abortions, but allowed the law to remain in effect in the meantime.
