Looking for something to do this weekend? These are some of the events happening around Central New York.
Orange, Hoyas renew their rivalry at the Dome
Coming off a 17-point home win over UAlbany earlier this week, Syracuse's men's basketball team looks to continue its winning ways Saturday — against a familiar foe. An old Big East rivalry returns as Georgetown and the Orange tip off at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Both the 7-2 Hoyas and 5-4 Orange have beaten UAlbany and lost to Notre Dame; Georgetown is coming off an eight-day layoff, as their last game was a Dec. 6 loss at West Virginia.
"Be Prepared" for The Lion King at the Landmark
The popular Broadway musical "The Lion King," based on the animated Disney film of the same name, is playing at the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse through Sunday. Show times this weekend are 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday. For some tips on making your way around before, during and after the show, go to the Landmark website.
Skaneateles goes Dickensian
The 31st edition of Dickens Christmas runs in Skaneateles this weekend and every weekend through Christmas Eve. There will be Dickens characters strolling the streets and performing; Father Christmas greeting kids at the Masonic Temple Porch on East Genesee Street; carriage rides on Sunday, weather permitting, from The Sherwood Inn; and free roasted chestnuts (at the Savage Homestead on E. Genesee) and free egg nog on Saturday (at 42 E. Genesee). For more information and for hours of some events, check the Skaneateles website.
Broome County Festival of Lights continues
