The man charged with killing Bianca Devins in Utica last year and posting photos of her body on social media was back in court Wednesday in an attempt to withdraw his guilty plea.
Brandon Clark said his attorney, Luke Nebush, coerced him.
Speaking in court, Clark claims the attorney only visited him a handful of times for 30-minute meetings.
He also said that discovery was missing and Nebush failed to adequately represent him.
The attorney denied those claims, testifying that he visited Clark 15 times before his eventual guilty plea, each time lasting roughly three hours.
He also said Clark did not want a trial for many reasons, including a desire to show remorse, and not wanting to put Devins' families through a trial.
Clark said he took Devins to a concert in New York City on July 13, 2019 and he saw her kiss another man. Later, Clark took Devins back to Utica and had intimate relations with her in his vehicle. She fell asleep, and he woke her up to talk about the kiss. Then Clark admits to slapping and stabbing Devins.
On July 14, 2019, police were called to a dead-end road on Poe Street in Utica, which was just a few blocks away from the site of the Boilermaker Road Race, which was about to start. Police say Devins was killed by Clark with a knife.
When police arrived on the scene, Clark began harming himself before being stopped by police. He was taken to the hospital to undergo treatment.
Graphic photos of the crime were posted online by Clark before law enforcement arrived on scene.
The judge will issue a written decision by October 30.
