A new attorney has been assigned to the man who previously pleaded guilty to murdering 17-year-old Bianca Devins.

Brandon Clark appeared in Oneida County court Wednesday, about a week after he claimed his attorney coerced him into pleading guilty.

Clark wants to withdraw his guilty plea in the Utica homicide last summer.

The victim's family wants the process to go the way it legally should, but wishes Clark would take responsibility.

"All of his rights should be protected, but he has admitted his guilt. He should take responsibility for what he did on the 14th of July 2019 which is take a precious, beautiful, innocent life from us all," said Frank Williams, the victim's grandfather.

The defense has until September 14 to file a motion to withdraw Clark's plea.
