Oneida County is investigating its first two cases of the COVID-19 omicron variant.
The New York State Department of Health confirmed the new variant has made its way to the region.
Those two are part of 434 new active positive cases in the county since Friday.
That brings the total number of active positive cases to 1,653.
Oneida County health officials are reporting a 6.7% positivity rate, and eight COVID-related deaths over the weekend.
