Gov. Kathy Hochul says the fight against the pandemic is not yet over, as 5,030 new statewide cases and 28 new COVID-19 deaths were announced Saturday.

Statewide, 2,359 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19, with 298 patients in the ICU and 532 in ICU with intubation.

"We continue to keep a close eye on the numbers, and while we know we've come a long way in beating back the virus and getting a good number of New Yorkers vaccinated, our work is not yet done, my friends," Hochul said in a statement. "COVID is still out there, and we cannot get complacent because we all know what it's capable of. If you still need to get vaccinated, it's imperative that you do so as soon as possible because your safety and the safety of others is on the line."

New York reached a vaccine milestone this past Thursday, as Hochul announced that 80.0% of adult New Yorkers have received at least one vaccine dose, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data.

According to CDC data, 80.3% of all New Yorkers age 18 and older have received at least one vaccine dose and 72.1% have completed their vaccine series. For New Yorkers of all ages, 67.9% have received at least one dose and 60.6% have completed their vaccine series.

Over the past 24 hours, 67,962 doses were administered and 388,164 shots were given out in the past seven days.

The statewide seven-day average positivity rate stands at 3.28%, with the state reporting a 3.20% daily positivity rate.

As of Saturday, the North Country's seven-day average positivity rate of 5.11% is the highest in the state, followed by the Capital Region at 4.78% and the Mohawk Valley at 4.67%. The region of the state with the lowest seven-day average positivity rate is currently New York City, with a reported 2.39% rate.
